Plainview FCCLA will host a community blood drive with the American Red Cross on Tuesday, May 20 from 9 a.m. – 3 p.m. at the Plainview High School Tartan Gym.
All presenting donors will spin a wheel and receive a prize from the Red Cross in addition to the Red Cross solar lantern.
This May, the American Red Cross urges donors to give to help ensure a stable blood supply as summer approaches. May is Trauma Awareness Month. Accidents can happen at any moment. Don’t wait; schedule your donation appointment now to keep blood readily available for patients when seconds count. Type O negative and O positive blood is especially important for trauma patients.
For more information or to make an appointment to donate, call the High School at 402-582-4991 or sign up online at redcrossblood.org or through the Red Cross App.
Save time the day of the drive with RapidPass. Complete your pre-donation reading and health history at Red Cross Blood RapidPass or with the Red Cross Blood donor App before your appointment.
“Our goal for this drive is huge with 51 donations. To meet this goal all donation times will have to be filled and completed the day of the drive. Power Reds will also have to filled. We know this is achievable as we did this in September. Meeting this goal is important as it helps save lives, and it also gives our seniors scholarship money. The number of units donated each year determines the scholarship dollar amount provided to our seniors.” stated Ronita Jacobsen, FCCLA Adviser. “Currently, we hold one of the largest high school blood drives in terms of unit collection. I would like to see this continue.”
