The Crofton Warriors made a big statement Friday, Oct. 3, crushing the Niobrara-Verdigre Cougars 66-20 on the road.

The win adds another strong performance to their district record as the Warriors continue to gain momentum heading toward the postseason.

Junior running back Tyson Jackson had another huge night, rushing for 180 yards and scoring five touchdowns. His runs helped power an offense that seemed unstoppable from start to finish. Sophomore quarterback Preston Foxhoven also made plays through the air, connecting on a few big passes, including a 70-yard touchdown strike to junior Grant Jordan. He earned Offensive Player of the Week, rushing for 69 yards and receiving for 70.

Crofton’s defense came out just as strong, forcing multiple turnovers and keeping the Cougars’ offense quiet for most of the game.

The Warriors dominated the line of scrimmage, pressured the quarterback, and shut down Niobrara-Verdigre’s attempts to get anything going. Junior Trace Tramp performed very well with one tackle and two assists, which resulted in him getting Defensive Player of the Week. Tramp attributed his success to “Having good preparation for the game”

With the win, Crofton improves to 4-2 on the season and remains one of the top teams in the district.

The Warriors now turn their attention to next week’s matchup against number one in the district Wausa-Osmond, looking to keep their winning streak alive and continue their push toward the playoffs.
