On Saturday, February 25th, the Plainview Speech team brought home the team championship trophy from the Laurel Concord Coleridge Invite.  

Plainview ended the day with a team score of 198 followed by Humphrey with a score of 184.  “It was simply a fun, rewarding day,” said Coach Michelle Mosel.  “The kids are having fun now.  We continue to tweak performances and perfect lines in speeches, and the speakers are confident with their performances. We are peaking at the right time.”

Plainview had three champions:  
Leighton Medina in humorous prose, Reagan Choat in extemp, and the OID team of Leighton Medina, Brett Norris, Jacson King, Karter Lingenfelter, and Brendan Weber. Paige Norris was a silver medalist in informative.  

The OID team of Paige Norris, Claire Rasmussen, JayJay Gaver, Rece Frahm, and Harrison Thor earned third place. 

Fourth place medals were awarded to Brett Norris in humorous prose and Abbie Kromarek in persuasive speaking. 

Fifth place medals were earned by Corben Kment in Poetry and Reagan Choat in persuasive speaking.  

Sixth place medals went to Jacson King in serious, Claire Rasmussen in entertainment, and Marque Albin in poetry.

Keanu Johnson and Allison Hardisty were champions in Next In Duet Acting. Lauren Jelinek placed 2nd in Next In Informative; Karter Lingenfelter placed 3rd in Next In Entertain; Brendan Weber and Lauren Jelinek placed 4th in Next In Duet Acting, and Jordynn Frahm placed 6th in Next In POI.

The Pirates will host NSAA Class C2-3 Districts on March 8.  Competition begins at 9:00 a.m. and the public is welcome to attend and watch performances.
