Students attend FCA event: “God’s Way”

The Fellowship of Christian Athletes (FCA) Huddle held a “Doing Sports God’s Way” event in the Pirate Gym Sunday afternoon.

Students from the Plainview senior and junior high and the Pierce high school participated in the “Doing Sports God’s Way” event.

Michael Hoppus, an FCA representative from the Seward area, lead the event. He was assisted by Tim Worstell, the FCA representative for Pierce, Madison, and Antelope counties. Huddle leaders, Dan & Melinda Stelling, Ed Johnson, and Kelly Lingenfelter lead in the small groups.

The event was opened with an ice breaker, “Slurp.”

The attendees were divided into small groups. The students did planks, mountain climbs and wind sprints. After these, Hoppus discussed with them what they were thinking while doing those physical activities. He then went over “The Four: God loves you, we are separated from God, Christ died for us, and the question is, What are you going to do about it?” What Christ has done for us was stressed.

The students again did the physical activities with thoughts on Jesus. They, then, discussed how it was different doing the drills with a different mind sets.

The students were brought into a large group and discussed the difference. Hoppus, then, shared; “What were you thinking in that situation? Why were you thinking that? What was the lie in that thinking? The Truth is God loves you, Jesus suffered and died for you, and it doesn’t matter how we perform we still belong to Him.”

The Plainview FCA Huddle meets every other week in the Distance Learning Room and all senior high students are welcome.
