State Speech qualifiers: Claire Rasmussen, Rece Frahm, Jordynn Frahm, Marque Albin, Jay Jay Gaver, Abbie Kromarek, Reagan Choat, Brett Norris, Leighton Medina, Brendan Weber, Jacson King, Karter Lingenfelter and Harrison Thor; and (seated) Paige Norris and Lauren Jelinek.

Plainview’s speech team traveled to Kearney to compete in the NSAA Class C2 state speech tournament on Thursday, March 16.  

Three events medaled in the highly competitive competition.  

“I am so proud of the speakers who were rewarded for their talents with medals,” stated head coach Michelle Mosel.  “I am also proud of ever speaker who competed.  Every single speaker gave their best performance.”

Three events and six speakers made it to finals.  
The OID team of Leighton Medina, Brett Norris, Brendan Weber, Karter Lingenfelter, and Jacson King earned second place. 

Senior Leighton Medina brought home a 3rd place medal in humorous prose.  

Reagan Choat earned 6th place in persuasive speaking. 

Additional state qualifiers were the OID team of Claire Rasmussen, JayJay Gaver, Paige Norris, Rece Frahm, and Harrison Thor; Claire Rasmussen in Entertain; Paige Norris and Lauren Jelinek in Inform; Abbie Kromarek in Persuade; Brett Norris in Humorous Prose; Marque Albin in Poetry; and Jordynn Frahm and Marque Albin in POI.  

“Every year is different.  I noticed some styles that have changed, and we will work on adjusting to those changes.  But we had a great year, and I am going to savor that until we start again next fall,” remarked Mosel.
