Pirates take two thirds at Ray Doerr Invitational

The rescheduled, annual “Ray Doerr Invitational” was held at the Plainview Pirate track on Thursday, April 6 with the Pirates picking up two third-place finishes at the event.

Norfolk Catholic took home the championship titles in both the boys’ and girls’ events with 133.5 team points to the ladies’ side and 213 on the men’s side. 

St. Mary’s in O’Neill was second for the girls’ teams with 110 points, and the Lady Pirates were third with 75 total team points. Other competitors were Boyd County, Laurel-Concord-Coleridge, Osmond, Wausa, Creighton, Lutheran High Northeast and Randolph.

The Pirate competition had Laurel in second-place with 73, and the local boys putting together 65 team points to trail Norfolk Catholic’s commanding lead at 213.    
The Pirate and Lady Pirate track teams were scheduled to travel to Neligh for an invite on Tuesday, April 11, and will head to St. Mary’s in O’Neill on Wednesday, April 19 with a start time of 9 a.m.
