New flag disposal bin made by ag student

Many of you don't know me I am Scott Hintz, I have been honored to be the Plainview FFA Reporter.

I have written all the articles about the Plainview FFA chapter for the past year and I would like to tell you about the new fire pit that has been placed at the fire hall. The fire pit was made to respectfully burn flags that are worn out and make it into a ceremony.

The pit has each branch of the United States military represented: US Army, Coast Guard, Marine Corps, Navy, Air Force, National Guard, and Space Force.

The fire pit was cut out on the ag shop plasma table and then were placed where they needed to be, and tack welded each sign in place one - then after specific placement, a full tack bead welded the insignias to the pit.

I spent a long time welding on this project for my community and if you look, one half will have better welds then the other half because this project made me a better welder. Welding in difficult positions and thicker metals to thinner metals.

The pit, flags, and new memorial have been planned to be commemorated this summer.
