The Plainview Chamber of Commerce received and weighed nominations for the 2023 “Outstanding” awards, giving out five plaques during the entertainment at the Bandshell Park last Saturday evening during the Klown Festival.
The Chamber gave out the “Outstanding Citizen,” “Outstanding Farm Family,” “Outstanding Youth,” “Outstanding Business” and “Outstanding Community Supporter.”
This year’s “Outstanding Citizen” was Courtney Retzlaff – who was nominated for her work “above and beyond” at the City offices, the Klown Band, Chamber of Commerce, Rescue Department and a host of other social clubs and activities.
This year’s “Outstanding Youth” was Abbie Kromarek – who was nominated for her athletic, academic and activity achievements, local employment and involvement in the community.
The “Outstanding Farm Family” this year was the John and Dani Steinkraus family, and their three kids, who were nominated for their determination in creating a farming opportunity for their family, partnering with their family and continuing their legacy of farming in the area and community.
The “Outstanding Business” was named as Dance Bright-Brighton Meuret – who was nominated for the business’s impact on the local youth, the business popularity and growth, and the addition to the community’s activities and for bringing folks into town. Meuret was specifically named for her interest and encouragement of the kids in her program as well.
This year’s “Outstanding Community Supporter” award went to Arnold Oltjenbruns. He was nominated for the specialty award for his service driving the Plainview Handi-Van, and all the extra care he takes with the adults and kids and his “riders” – going above-and-beyond to help folks in and out, to clean up the van, and to be as available as possible to the community with his service.
Nominations do not stay in the Chamber’s selection folder, so anyone who did not win this year, can be nominated next year, but with a new nomination form.
