Jacson King and Spencer Hille work past the Wildcats.

The Plainview Pirate football team bumped its record to 2-0 on the season with another big spread win this week, this time over Hartington-NewCastle, when the teams faced off in Hartington last Friday evening.

The Pirates put away the Wildcats with a score of 42-6 after the final quarter.
Plainview scored 14 in the first three quarters for their 42 total team points, and held Hartington to just one touchdown in the second quarter for 6.

Scoring for the Pirates was Jacson King with 12 total points off two touchdowns. Kohen Lingenfelter marked six points from kicking, Karter Lingenfelter had one touchdown and Spencer Hille marked one as well.

Leading the Pirates in total yards was Jacson King with 52 rushing yards and 23 receiving yards to his credit. In a close second, Spencer Hille put up 70 yards with the near opposite – 18 rushing yards and 52 in receptions. Ty Diedrichsen was in the mix as well, with just one yard short of Hille, marking 69, completely from rushing.

Brendan Weber marked 42 yards in receptions, Karter Lingenfelter had 25 total, Corben Kment put up 24 total and Beau Johnson had 12 credited to his card.

Tackles were led by Diedrichsen, who had 10 on his sheet, 5 assisted and 5 solo. King marked eight, Karter Lingenfelter and Lenyn Ickler both had four. Owen Dobler, John Lejia, Spencer Hille, Brendan Weber, Wyatt Doerr and Harrison Thor each were marked for three tackles as well.

The Pirates will host the Laurel-Concord-Coleridge Bears for a contest this Friday, today on the local field with a 7 p.m. planned kickoff. The Bears are currently 1-1 with a win over Guardian Angels Central Catholic and a loss last week to Wisner-Pilger’s Gators.

This week will also be a special event for the Pirate fans, as the school will be dedicating the flagpole and flag that were recently donated by the Ray Doerr and Lingenfelter families in memory of the longtime Plainview resident, coach and teacher, Ray Doerr, and Lt. Col. Andrew Lingenfelter, Plainview alum.
