Jacson King diving for the goal pylon against Summerland.

The Plainview Pirates used a heavy offensive attack to pick up a big win against the 2-4 Summerland Bobcats on Friday, Oct. 6 at home.

In quarter number one, the defenses came out ready to play, but both teams were able to find the end zone once, making the contest 7-7 heading into quarter number two.

The second quarter was when Plainview was able to find a groove offensively with a three-touchdown performance to put up 21 points. Unfortunately the defense found struggles as Summerland was able to punch it into the end zone twice, making the score 28-21 heading into halftime.

In the third quarter the Pirartes were finally able to get the offense and defense on the same page, as the offense would continue their chemistry to put up another 21 points. This time, however, the defense would turn into a brick wall, not allowing a single point to be scored by Summerland, giving the Pirates the insurance they needed to secure a big win at home to continue their perfect season.

After both teams scored 13 points each in the fourth quarter, the Pirates came away victorious by a score of 62-34, giving the Bobcats their fourth loss of the season.

Gage Walton had his struggles, but in the end had a solid night behind center, going 7-18 through the air for one touchdown and one interception on the way to the victory.

Catching the passes from Walton was the trio of Jacson King, Spencer Hille and Ty Diedrichsen. King led the way with 42 yards off three catches, while the other two each hauled in two grabs of their own.

On the ground it was the duo of Walton and King leading the way for the crew with King rushing for 174 yards on 24 carries and Walton going for 133 on 19 carries. Also earning yards on the ground was Colt Kromarek with seven carries for 47 yards, Diedrichsen with four carries for 31 yards, Kohen Lingenfelter with 62 yards on two carries, and John Lejia and Brendan Weber each carrying the ball once.

Defensively the Pirates spread out tackling well. Coming out on top for Plainview was the duo of Karter Lingenfelter and Weber with nine each, followed by Walton with six, King with five, Hayven Stewart, Wyatt Doerr, Hunter Meyer, Diedrichsen, and Kohen Lingenfelter with four, Hille with three, Owen Dobler with two, and the trio of Beau Johnson, Xander Albin and Lenyn Ickler with one each.

The Pirates now look to finish out their perfect season with a tough home district contest against the 6-1 Elkhorn Valley Falcons on Thursday, Oct. 12 in Plainview.
