The Plainview One Act cast performed for the last time at the NSAA State Play Production competition held in Norfolk at Johnny Carson Theater on December 7.

The Pirates completed the day in 4th place at the Class C2 competition. The team had 171 total points with two fourths and a third from the three-judge panel.

Ravenna’s performance of “Chemical Imbalance: A Dr. Jekyll and Hyde Play” took first place honors with 180 points – two firsts and a second from the judges.

The Pirates had earned their state berth by taking the District One Act Championships in Creighton last week.

“I was pleased with our performance.  This was a new experience for all of us and nerves were a little jumpy,” said head coach Michelle Mosel.  “The stage is huge compared to ours, and the sound and light systems are different, so it would be easy to panic.  However, my kids adapted quickly and had the audience in stitches.”

Six Pirates earned Best Performance awards:  Rece Frahm, Weston Hoffman, Jacson King, Karter Lingenfelter, Brendan Weber, and Paige Norris.

“Qualifying for state was a goal we set back in September,” said Mosel. “It is so rewarding to attain that goal.  It also builds excitement for next year. Lots of the kids have asked what play we will perform next year.  I need a break before I can start thinking about it!”
