The Pirates boys wrestling team took down the competition at the Elgin Public/Pope John Invite on Saturday, Dec. 16.
After a long day on the mats, the Pirates walked away as meet champions, putting up 125.0 team points, outscoring the runner-up Guardian Angels Central Catholic team by 14.0 points.
The Pirates walked away from the meet with individual championships in three separate weight classes, with nine team members scoring points for the team.
This was the final meet for the boys before their Holiday Moratorium. After their NSAA-mandated break, the Pirates will hit the road to Shelby-Rising City on Saturday, Dec. 30.
Individual Plainview results from the EPPJ Wolfpack Invite are as follows:
106: Guy Wortman lost by major decision to Beau Johnson; defeated Howel of Archbishop Bergan via medical forfeit; lost to Fowler of Twin River. Wortman placed third.
106: Beau Johnson won by major decision over Wortman of Plainview; defeated Fowler of Twin River by decision; won by medical forfeit over Howell of Archbishop Bergan. Johnson placed first with 17.0 team points.
113: Zach Frahm lost to Held of Twin River by fall; won by fall over Kumm of Plainview; lost to Weller of Palmer by fall; was defeated via decision by Allen of Arcadia/Loup City; won over Bazelman of Summerland. Frahm placed fourth and scored 8.0 team points.
113: Jensen Kumm lost by fall in five matches to Allen of Arcadia/Loup City, Frahm of Plainview, Held of Twin River, Bazelman of Summerland, and Weller of Palmer. Kumm placed sixth.
120: Colt Kromarek won by decision over Wadswroth of Central Valley; defeated Schroder of Twin River by fall. Kromarek placed first and scored 20.0 team points.
132: Landon Hansen won by fall over Fisher of Norfolk Catholic; lost by fall to Thomsen of Pender; was defeated via fall to Drueke of EPPJ. Hansen scored 6.0 team points.
