The Plainview Pirates boys golf team wrapped up its 2025 regular season with two invites over the course of the past week, including the Stanton Invite and Greater Northeast Activities Conference (GNAC) Invite.

The squad’s most recent day of competition came on Friday, May 9 with the Stanton Invite.

This year’s Stanton Invite was the host to 14 full teams and a field of 71 total golfers.

At the large invite, the Pirates managed to separate themselves from most of the field, and land inside the top five as a team.

With a team score of 347, the Pirates placed fourth and were just 11 strokes off of the first-place plaque.

This not only was the Pirates best team score of the season but was also the best team finish and score of the past ten Plainview golf seasons, according to Adam Yilk, the head coach of the Pirates.

Zach Frahm led the way for the Pirates at the Stanton Invite. With an 18-hole score of 82, Frahm found himself a spot inside the top ten with a seventh-place finish.

Jaxon Jelinek also landed inside of the top 20 individually to help lead the Pirates to their fourth-place finish. With an 87, Jelinek placed 19th amongst his peers

Just a few days before the Stanton Invite, the Pirates set sail for the GNAC Tournament held at Summerland Golf Course on Tuesday, May 6.

At the GNAC Tournament, all eight conference teams were represented and were allowed to bring up to three junior varsity members to accompany their varsity teams. This made for a total of 59 golfers in the competitive field.

As a team, the Pirates weren’t able to get much going against their conference foes, and they finished the 18-hole tournament with a score of 384 to land themselves in seventh-place.

Leading the way for the Pirates was Guy Wortman, who finished the day with an 89 to place 15th, which was just two strokes off of earning a medal.

With the Stanton Invite and GNAC Tournament now in the past, so is the 2025 regular season for the Pirates.
