Three future Northeast Community College students were among those honored at the 10th annual Northeast Nebraska Ag Banquet in Madison.

Five scholarships were awarded, with three of the students planning to attend Northeast. The event was held Tuesday, June 17, at the Madison County Fairgrounds and sponsored by the Norfolk Area and Madison Area chambers of commerce.

Thanks to generous sponsorship support, the number of scholarships provided has grown from two and $500 awards to five $1,000 awards.

The students awarded scholarships, their hometowns, along with their scholarships, were Paizlynn Glenn, Meadow Grove, (Northeast); Corben Kment, Plainview (Northeast); Alexandria Renninger, Platte Center, (University of Nebraska-Lincoln); Cannon Taake, Norfolk, (Northeast); and Aylla Weeder, Pierce, (Wayne State College).

Kroupa farms of Pierce was named the Farm Family of the year and Elkhorn Rural Public Power District was named the Ag Business of the year.

The Ag Banquet recognizes area producers and ag businesses in Madison, Antelope, Wayne, Pierce, Stanton, Boone and northern Platte counties for their contributions to the economic well-being of area communities. The banquet emphasizes the link between the business and agricultural communities.
