The 2025 Plainview 12-and-under baseball team was a testament to dedication and commitment.
With neighboring towns of Plainview and Osmond both being short on players they decided to team up and represent as the Plainview Pirates.
“Combining kids from different towns can bring some learning curves and challenges but this group didn’t let anything get in their way of playing a game they love,” said the coaches. “These boys showed with hard work, patience, dedication, and positivity that goals can be achieved. Their ability to adapt and commit helped drive success!”
The Pirate Team showed up at the tournament last week seeded 5th out of 10 teams.
Their first game was against O’Neill Green where they set the tone for the tournament winning 14-3 in four innings.
With a fall to Neligh in game two, losing 7-5, the team wasn’t about to give up.
So, in game 3 they heated up their bats making it a win over Creighton 12-1 in 3 innings.
The last day of the tournament brought back to back games first defeating Elgin in game four, 7-5. Next the Pirates took on Atkinson B securing another successful win of 22-12 in three innings to take them into the championship round.
But in the final game of the tournament, they lost again to Neligh making this team of Pirates the Tournament Runners Up taking home 2nd place medals and trophy.
This year’s coaches were Wade Frahm, Ward Frahm and Monte Miller.
