The Plainview girls’ and boys’ high school and junior high cross-country teams strapped on their running shoes for the Niobrara/Verdigre Invite in Niobrara on Thursday, Sept 4.
In the high school boys’ race, the Pirates were represented by just two runners in Bernardo Camacho and Jaxon Jelinek.
Just as they had in the meet prior, Camacho and Jelinek started and finished the race nearly sideby-side.
This time it was Camacho who managed to cross the finish line first out of the two, as he finished in 23 minutes and one second for 20th place, while Jelinek finished in 23 minutes and 38 seconds to earn 22nd place.
In the high school girls’ race, the Lady Pirates had a full team on the course yet again and managed to place in the top three of team standings.
This time, the Lady Pirates were led in the race by Morgan Nincehelser, who finished in a time of 25 minutes and 45 seconds to place fourth.
Nincehelser was followed by Kenzie Mosel, who placed tenth with a time of 29 minutes and 16 seconds, and Addie Hodson, who finished in 12th place with a time of 31 minutes and 37 seconds.
The combined efforts of Nincehelser, Mosel, and Hodson earned the Lady Pirates a third-place team finish amongst their peers.
In the junior high races, the Pirates were represented by four boy runners and one lone female runner.
The junior high boys were led by Korver Lingenfelter, who finished the race in 5 minutes and 47 seconds to capture fifth place. Closely behind Lingenfelter was Ried Brummels, who finished in 6 minutes and 18 seconds to claim 14th place.
