The Plainview Pirate junior high and high school cross country teams travelled to Albion Country Club on Friday, Sept. 26 for the Boone Central Tom Dickey Invite.
At the invite, the Pirates had the opportunity to compete in a large field of runners which represented 12 other schools across northeast Nebraska.
In the high school girls’ race, the Lady Pirates had five athletes compete in the field of 42 runners.
As a team, the Lady Pirates accumulated 111 total team points, which landed them in seventh place in team standings.
Leading the way for the Pirates was once again Morgan Nincehelser, who finished with a time of 26 minutes and 43 seconds to place 25th.
Assisting Nincehelser in the team score was the duo of Addie Hodson and Makenzie Mosel, who rounded out the top three finishes for Plainview.
Hodson fniished in 31st with a time of 28 minutes and 55 seconds, while Mosel crossed the line in 30 minutes and 54 seconds to place 37th.
In the high school boys’ race, the Pirates were once again represented by the duo of Jaxon Jelinek and Bernardo Camacho, who ran side-by-side the entire race.
In the end, just one tenth of a second separated the duo’s times, as they both fnished in 23 minutes and 8 seconds. However, Jelinek crossed slightly ahead of Camacho to snag 38th place, while Camacho grabbed 39th.
In the junior high races, the Pirates were represented by a total of seven runners.
In the girl’s race, the trio of Cara Hoffman, Kirbee Doerr, and Ella Nincehelser took the course for the Pirates.
In the end, it was Hoffman wholed the way for the Lady Pirates, as she fnished in a time of 10 minutes and 1 second to claim the third-place medal. She was the lone medalist for the junior high girls.
In the junior high boys’ race, the Pirates were led by Korver Lingenfelter, who claimed the eighth-place medal with a time of 9 minutes and 17 seconds. He was the only junior high boy runner to claim a medal for his efforts.
The trio of Reid Brummels, Clay Utecht, and Micha Crosby also competed for the Pirates, although none were able to earn their way to the podium for an individual medal.
This will be the final regular-season invite for the Pirate harriers, as they will compete in their conference invite the next week, which will be their final invite prior to districts on Thursday, Oct. 16.
