The annual Greater Northeast Activity Conference Art Show was hosted by West Holt Public School in Atkinson from Friday, April 24 through Sunday, April 26, 2026.
Artwork from K-12 students at Elkhorn Valley, Hartington-Newcastle, Laurel-Concord-Coleridge, Lutheran High Northeast, Neligh-Oakdale, Plainview, Summerland, and West Holt were on display for the public. The GNAC Art Show aims to celebrate and recognize the artistic talents of the students and to promote the importance of art in our schools.
Judges for the high school division were Joan Swim, retired art teacher from Springview, and Rita Heitoff, retired art teacher from Elgin. Judges for the junior high division were Diane Cole, retired art teacher from Emmet, and Emily Hitchcock, former art teacher from Atkinson.
On Monday, April 27, conference schools had the opportunity to view the artwork, create a colorful mandala as part of an activity, and listen to the critique. During the critique students who received Best of Show or purple ribbons were recognized.
From the almost 600 entries, four works of art were awarded Best of Show, two in the High School division and two in the Junior High division, and 38 works were awarded purple ribbons in both divisions combined.
