JoAnn Kenney plaque

A Plainview legacy, and a life devoted to tennis will be honored at a special dedication ceremony on Wednesday, Oct. 6 at noon in or near the tennis courts in Plainview’s Chilvers Park.

The family of Joan Kenney, a long-time Plainview resident, has received permission to posthumously dedicate the Plainview tennis courts to their mother – who lived in Plainview for more than 20 years, and was a “tennis great” of her time, teaching and guiding numerous local, and area, tennis enthusiasts.

Kenney was inducted as the 10th member of the Nebraska Tennis Hall of Fame in 1991, following a lifetime of a love for the game – though her last official career game was in 1954 at the age of 21.

All are invited to the dedication ceremony.
