Funeral services for Luanne Mary Doerr, 84, of Burlington, Kans., will be held 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, May 21, 2022, at Trinity Lutheran Church in Burlington.
Burial will follow in Graceland Cemetery at Burlington.
Family and friends will meet from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Friday, May 20, at Jones Funeral Home in Burlington.
Luanne Mary Doerr was born Thanksgiving morning, November 25, 1937, at rural Plainview, the daughter of Louie and Valborg (Johnson) Horst, and she passed away late Wednesday at Sunset Manor in Waverly, Kans.
She was baptized at the Crawford Valley Methodist Church on April 1, 1945, and became a Lutheran on February 17, 1957. She graduated from Plainview High School in 1955.
On August 11, 1957, she and Dale D. Doerr were married at the Golgatha Lutheran Church at Wausa. Dale Doerr was ordained as a Lutheran Minister in 1969 and he and Luanne served churches in Burlington and Aliceville, Kansas, Superior, Nebr., and Iola, Kans.
Luanne Doerr had been employed at the Life Care Center in Burlington for 12 years and Team Bank in Iola for 13 ½ years.
Her husband, Rev. Dale Doerr, preceded her in death on October 21, 2017, and they suffered the loss of their son, Timothy Doerr, on September 19, 2016; she was also preceded in death by her parents.
Luanne Mary Doerr is survived by her son, Darwin Doerr, of Burlington, who graciously cared for his mother over the past couple years.
