Koepke named to Fair Hall of Fame

The Hall of Fame Award began in 1983 when the award was given posthumously to the Late Irvin Schomberg, longtime fair booster. A plaque was presented to the family and his picture has been hung in the Hall of Fame area of the 4-H Center as is each year’s recipients. Nominations are evaluated by the Hall of Fame Committee and the Executive Board of the Pierce County Agricultural Society.

The recipient of the 2022 Hall of Fame Award has been active in the Pierce County Fair since he was a young 4-Her showing Simmental cattle and sheep. He was always willing to share his knowledge and passion with other exhibitors, always making the best better.

As an adult, his passion for livestock and agriculture grew and he began raising and selling show lambs and goats; still mentoring those 4-Hers who purchased show stock from him and his family.

Keeping Pierce County as his home, he was very active in his church. He was instrumental in aligning the St. John’s church food stand to provide delicious homestyle meals to the community at the Pierce County Fair.

His devotion to the activities of the Pierce County Fair and the entire community will be missed. It is with deep admiration and respect that we present the 2022 Hall of Fame Award posthumously to Darin Koepke. We want to present this plaque to his wife Kelly and his family.
