On July 30th, 2022 approximately 1630 hours, Plainview Police Department received a call from CHI Health in Plainview regarding a stabbing victim that admitted himself into the Emergency Room.  

Plainview Police and Pierce County Sheriff’s Office arrived at the hospital to find a male with multiple stab wounds.  He was stabbed three times and had several cuts to his hands.  

The victim was identified as Michael D. Reifers from Plainview and the suspect was identified as David Schwanebeck from Winnetoon, Knox County.   

A fight ensued at the victim’s residence in Plainview, NE at which time the victim was stabbed several times.  Following an investigation by the Plainview Police Department and Pierce County Sheriff’s Office, David Schwanebeck was taken into custody that night and booked into the Pierce County jail for 2nd Degree Assault and Use of a Weapon to Commit a Felony.  

The Pierce County Court set bond at $15,000.00/10%, which was posted on August 1, 2022.  

The victim, Michael Reifers, was also charged with 3rd Degree Assault and Disturbing the Peace.  

Michael Reifers was released from CHI Health and is expected to make a full recovery.
