Pirate fans far and wide have been invited to attend the 2022 Fall Sports Kickoff hosted by the Plainview Pirate boosters for the upcoming seasons on Friday, Aug. 19.
The event will begin at 5 p.m. at the school with a Lady Pirate volleyball scrimmage, and will move to the football field for a 6 p.m. run by the Pirate and Lady Pirate harriers at 6 p.m.
At 6:15 p.m. fans can grab a meal for a free will donation to the Boosters, and at 6:45 p.m. a performance by the choir and band will be held on the football field, followed by the introduction of the Junior Pirate, Junior High, High School and new staff for this season’s rosters.
The Boosters will hold a fundraiser auction at 7:45 p.m. with team signed items and parking spots, and other items, followed by the Pirate football team’s scrimmage scheduled for around 8 p.m.
This year’s kickoff sporting events will be:
Varsity Volleyball: August 18 – Osmond Jamboree, 6:30 p.m.
Varsity Cross Country: August 25 – at Hartington/Newcastle, 4:30 p.m.
Varsity, JV, C Volleyball: August 25 – at Wakefield, 5:30 p.m.
Varsity Football: August 26 – vs. Wakefield at Plainview, 7 p.m.
Junior High Football: August 29 – vs. Osmond/Randolph at Plainview, 4 p.m.
Junior Varsity Football: August 29 – vs. Stanton at Plainview, 6 p.m.
Homecoming plans have been made for this year already, with the last week in August and September 1-2 planned for the festivities. The ceremony will be held on Friday, Sept. 2 with more information to follow.
