At the Plainview Chamber of Commerce’s Butch Anderson Memorial Bullride, only one rider stayed seated to win much prize money, with the majority of the Calcutta going to the “bulls” as the winner of the day. Overall, the Calcutta raised $3,900, with the first-prize going to Jason Kursave of Arcadia for his successful ride on “Cherry Fizzy.” Plainview’s own Travis Hofmann rode on Sunday, as well as Jensen Raabe from Hadar, and riders from Allen, Norfolk, Order, Battle Creek, Grand Island, Spaulding and South Dakota and Iowa. The Plainview Library Foundation and Plainview Pool Board held a slightly-delayed triathlon for runners, bikers and swimmers during the Plainview Klown Festival last weekend with winners from all age groups. The “top two” finishers, team and individual, were awarded in each division, and everyone that participated received a prize from the group as well. The Creighton/Plainview Titans Senior Legion team kicked off its season with two wins this last weekend, beating O’Neill 6-5 and Valentine 4-1. With 46 donors ready to donate, the Plainview FCCLA Chapter hosted the Red Cross Blood Drive Wednesday, May 18th at the high school.  Unfortunately, due to Red Cross Staff shortages that occurred throughout the day, 13 donors were notified of their cancelled donation times.  The day ended with 35 units being collected, just seven short of the 42-unit goal set by the Red Cross.
